Need to get a head start on research?  Choose one of our Research Guides: http://samford.libguides.com/index.php

Don't forget-- we're here to help you!  Just Ask Us:  http://samford.libanswers.com/
You can stop by the 2nd floor of Davis Library, email us, call us, Tweet @ us, text us, or even send us a Facebook message!

The library is open until midnight Monday through Thursday, with extended hours during Midterms and Finals: http://library.samford.edu/about/hours.html

Want to dive right in to research?  Multi-Search combs through all of our databases and the library's catalog at once to locate and link you to resources.  You will need your Samford ID and password for this resource.

Checking out a book?  All you need is your Bulldog Card!  And if we don't have it, we can probably get it for you from another library via Interlibrary Loan.

We want to remind you of all the great things that the library has to offer, so for the next couple of weeks, we're going to highlight several resources that you may not have known about before-- so stay tuned!

135 years of Samford Service

Yesterday, Samford University held its annual employee awards luncheon, where faculty and staff  were recognized for their years of service to the University.

Among that group, members of the library family were honored for a combined 135 years of service!

Cheryl Cecil, Regina Coleman, and Tabitha Moore were each honored for 20 years of service, while 10 year service awards were presented to Beth Ashmore, Gail Barton, Jaro Szurek, and Joe Zellner.  Emily Allee and Kim Herndon received recognition for 5 years of service, as well.  Donna Fitch, who got her start in the library, now in Marketing and Communication, was honored for 25 years of service, so we're counting her, too.

We are blessed to have so many highly capable individuals here in the library who have dedicated their careers to serving Samford.  Congratulations to all of you!

(New) Offerings from the Alabama Virtual Library

When was the last time you visited the Alabama Virtual Library?

This amazing resource is available for free to all of the citizens of the state of Alabama, and is made possible by your tax dollars.

For a limited time, the AVL has made available a slate of resources to assist in finding employment opportunities.  Some of these resources will only be available until the end of March, so take advantage of them while they're here.

The full list of employment resources can be found here: http://www.avl.lib.al.us/resources/display_resources.php

From their website:
"The Alabama Virtual Library provides all students, teachers, and citizens of the State of Alabama with online access to essential library and information resources. It is primarily a group of online databases that have magazine, journal, and newspaper articles for research. Through the AVL, an equitable core of information sources is available to every student and citizen in Alabama, raising the level of excellence in schools and communities across the state."

Do you think these resources are incredibly valuable?  Take a moment to thank your legislators!  You can find their contact information here: http://www.legislature.state.al.us/misc/zipsearch.html
