DELLA DARBY NAMED GENEALOGY INSTITUTE DIRECTOR

Dr. Alan Hargrave, Associate Provost and Chief Information Officer, made this announcement last week:

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Della Darby as the Director of the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR). This appointment is effective immediately. In this role, Della will coordinate all activities of the Institute, including its summer programs. Della brings a strong background and interest in genealogy to this new role and I know that she will carry on the fine tradition that has been established.

I would also like to publicly express appreciation to Jean Thomason for her excellent leadership of the Institute for the last several years. Under her guidance, the Institute’s summer programs have showed sustained improvement in quality and in the number of attendees. She has worked to build a support structure that insures the future success of the Institute.

I know you will join me in congratulating Della and thanking Jean.
